clean mattress new york

Our mattress is an investment, it's not only the place where we go to sleep every night, but also the place where we go when we feel sick or simply when we want to relax. Today we want to share with you some simple tips that you can use to take good care of your mattress and your bed to get a good rest every night and prolong its lifetime

1- Baking Soda

The first thing we're going to do is spread some baking soda. It will not only help us to clean the mattress more efficiently but will also help us to eliminate odors.

Use the help of a strainer, that way we can spread it in a more uniform way. If you want to add some essential oils you can also do that. Essential oils not only will help with to neutralize odor but will also help you to disinfect.

Let it sit for at least 30 minutes. After we have waited for at least that amount of time we have to vacuum it making sure that we do all of the crevices and edges.

2- Mattress Protector

We’re going to put the mattress protector. There are different kinds of protectors, one that looks like a thicker fitted sheet and one that looks like a bag with zipper. I like the one with zipper better because we can cover and seal the mattress entirely and absolutely nothing will get into it.

3- Rotate the mattress

We tend to sleep on one specific side every night and we want to wear out our mattress evenly. So it’s very important to rotate our mattress every quarter or at least twice a year.

4- Duvet Cover

Protect your comforter with a duvet cover. They prolong the life of your comforter and double as decorative element to your bedroom (win-win!)

This allows to wash the duvet cover more frequently. I do wash mine every two weeks maybe every three weeks but not longer than that. If you use only your fitted sheet and you don't use a flat sheet and use only your cover then I would recommend that you wash your duvet cover every week.

5- Vacuum the headboard

Vacuum your headboard as often as you can. The top and sides is where most dust will accumulate. We recommend to do this as often as you can, at least once a week so dust doesn't accumulate and also remember that it's not only dust but it's dust mites and all those kind of things that accumulate in our bed.
