1- Empty the closet:
Just as in any organization process (if you have seen my previous post you already know what I mean) the first thing I recommend is to take everything out of your closet. Remove everything and put on a flat surface (it can be the bed).

2- Clean inside the closet:
Once your closet is empty it is the perfect opportunity to give that space a throughout cleaning. Walls, shelves, floors and drawers  our empty space well, both the floor, drawers and also walls of our closet. This is a space that we usually do not have access to to clean it well, so now is the time!

3- Sort your clothes by type

It is important that you get your clothes by category. To make sure your organizing process is a success bring all your clothes to the same area. According to the KonMari method when you grab all your clothes from all closets, all drawer, so that way you can visualize the amount of clothing you currently have. I like to do this process by also grouping the clothes by type: all shirts, pants, t-shirts, etc in separate piles.

4- Choose what to stay and what goes

When choosing what you need to keep ask yourself if that item fits your lifestyle TODAY! Many times we feel guilty of getting rid of things for a number of reasons: they are expensive, they are so pretty even though you haven't worn them in the last few years.

If you used to work in the corporate world and have lots of suits and high heels and today you have a completely different job most likely you won't wear those suits and high heels and they are taking valuable space from your closet not allowing you to look to what you really can wear.

5- Time to organize

Once you have everything sorted by type and have made the choices of what you will keep and what you will put away for next season it's time to put everyhting back in the closet.

There are a few ways to do it and make your closet look nice and tidy:

- Categorize

Put everything back in the closet by categories in group items: Blouses, pants, denims, blazers, underwear, etc. You can use dividers or boxes to make sure they stay in that same category and don't move accidentally to another place

- File fold

Every time you fold your clothes do it in a way that will be upright so you can see everything when you open your drawers

- By color

This will not only help you to get dressed faster because you can find everything you are looking for, but it will also make your closet look nicer and pleasant to the eye
