Keeping your home clean and tidy can be challenging and time-consuming, and the task can feel even more daunting when you have a pet. To help you breeze through it, we've compiled our favorite tips for keeping your home clean and healthy.

Tip 1: Invest in a good vacuum. This may seem like a no-brainer, but for those who have traditionally swept and Swiffered their way to clean floors, it can be a huge timesaver. It cleans up shed fur in a jiffy!

Tip 2: Create a spray to have on hand in case your pet has an accident. Fill a spray bottle halfway with distilled white vinegar and the other half with water. This easy to create mixture can be used on sofas, carpets, and other surfaces such as hardwood and tile floors. The vinegar acts as a disinfectant, counteracting unwanted build-ups and cutting through grime.

Tip 3: Sprinkle baking soda on carpets to eliminate odor. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes and vacuum away! You may be wondering how such a simple trick can be so effective! Bad odors tend to be acidic (they have high pH levels), the baking soda lowers the pH and neutralizes the unpleasant smell.

Tip 4: Wipe your pet’s paws before they enter your home after a walk or play-time outside. This simple step will reduce the amount of dirt and pesky germs that make their way into your home and onto your furniture.

Tip 5: Keep your home smelling fresh and inviting with an easy DIY using essential oils.  Simply add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to a tissue and vacuum it up!  I’m a big fan of citrus essential oils, such as orange and lemon, as well as lavender.  The fresh, clean scent of the oils will emerge every time you use your vacuum.
