Did you know that studies reveal that we only use 20% of our clothes 80% of the time?

That is why today I want to show you these tips to consider for the correct organization of your closet.

1- Guilt

Many times we feel guilty of getting rid of something. Perhaps it's because someone gifted us that item or because we feel bad about parting with it. Thus, we start finding all kinds of excuses: it is an expensive product, it has sentimental value, or any other reason that makes us feel guilty for getting rid of it. But the truth is that all it does is occupy valuable space in your closet. Don't let guilt make you have things in your closet that you are not wearing.

2- Weather / Season

Consider separating clothes that are off season and store them in a separate place, not inside your closet. When you have only the clothes that belong to the specific season in your closet, it is much easier to see everything you can wear.

3- Damaged Clothes

Check your clothes and see if they have any damage such as hole or stain. If so, go to a tailor and see if can be repaired. If it cannot be repaired, it is best to get rid of the damaged garment.

4- Have your worn it in the last two years?

A) Lifestyle: Think if the clothes you have are comfortable for your current lifestyle. If a few years ago you worked at an office and you had to wear formal clothes every day and now you work from home, those suits are no longer serving a purpose. On the other hand, if you used play sports or go to the gym daily and now you only dedicate yourself to exercise once or twice a week, your clothes will change radically.

B) Size: Physical changes occur, whether it is gaining or losing weight, developing muscles or other factors. It is important not to have clothes that, although you like, simply cannot wear.

5- Does it make me happy?

You can have perfect clothes in terms of size and that aligns with our lifestyle, but is it always good to ask yourself "Do I really love them?" "Do you enjoy them?" As Marie Kondo says, we should only have items in our house that make us happy. Likewise, you should only have clothes that you love to wear and with which you feel comfortable in.
